Words of Knowledge Activations Introduction

This set of activations are designed to help the students move in the gift of word of knowledge. You’ll want to start by giving the students an overview of the different ways people typically get words of knowledge:

  • Seeing
  • Feeling
  • Hearing
  • Reading
  • Knowing
  • Tumbling

When you describe each of these, I find it’s helpful to have the students mimic experiencing seeing a picture or hearing a word by imagining or remembering something you’ve seen or heard. This helps the students identify what place a word of knowledge appears when you see or hear something.

For many of the students we find that it’s helpful to inform them that usually people have to learn to recognize words of knowledge more than start getting them. Most people actually receive information from the spiritual realm all the time; they just don’t recognize it as such. It’s much more “normal” and subtle than most people expect when we talk about hearing from God. We also have a resource card that details the common words of knowledge here in our On The Journey store if you’re interested. Just be aware of shipping time when planning.

When you first get started with these activities, its often helpful to pray ofter the group a prayer to release people in the gift of words of knowledge. I’ll often pray something like this for people who’ve never participated in this type of activity or never experienced a word of knowledge:

Right now in Jesus’ name I release special grace to practice the gifts of the Spirit. I release the gift of word of knowledge to everyone who has never moved in it.

Keep it short & sweet; doesn’t have to be complicated, but it helps people step out in risk and see more happen.
