Encountering Anointing
This activation provides an opportunity for the students to experience a gift of healing, miracles or faith. This is an extremely useful activity because it gives them the ability to recognize what they’ve experienced the next time around. By reflecting on what they’ve experienced they learn to recognize it the next time around, and when it does happen the next time around they’ll be encouraged to pray with faith and take risks.
To do this activation have all the students sit with their hands out and then pray over them a release of the gift of healing. Ask the Holy Spirit to release a gift of healing to each of them right now so they can experience it and recognize it. After this wait briefly and encourage the students to pay attention to what they’re experiencing. Eventually I’ll invite some of the students to share what they’re experiencing and ask the other students who is experiencing something similar.
If you have time I would suggest having the students who are experiencing a gift of healing to pray for those who aren’t and release the gift they’re experiencing presently to whoever isn’t yet.
Once feel you’ve completed the gift of healing, repeat the process with releasing miracles and the gift of faith. Both of these two are particularly helpful because these gifts tend to be less commonly experienced and it can be a helpful exercise for learning to flow in a new type of gift.
With this activation it is important to emphasize that what the students are experiencing isn’t necessary when praying for healing. It is possible to heal the sick without moving through a gift of healing – James 5:15 says the prayer of faith will heal the sick, and this is different than a gift of healing. So experiencing a gift of healing isn’t necessary, but it is helpful. When we recognize it happening we should be encouraged and pray accordingly.
