Spiritual Sight

In this clinic we practice the gift of discerning of spirits. As with each spiritual gift, there are a few different ways that people learn to recognize this spiritual gift:

  • Highlighted: The person looks more real than other people or stands out in some way, like a glow or the lighting appears different on them.
  • Feeling Drawn: Our emotions engage with the presence of God and we feel pulled towards someone for no particular reason we can recognize.
  • Repeated Looking: We find ourselves looking at a particular person repeatedly, often unconsciously.

In this clinic you’ll model this gift and open up the opportunity for the students to practice as well:

  1. Have the students sit in a group. Invite the Holy Spirit to come and teach you all how to flow in this spiritual gift.
  2. Point out a student or students that you see the Holy Spirit on and have them stand up.
  3. For each person you stand up, describe what you are observing. Be as specific and descriptive as possible – that will help the students.
  4. Instruct the other students to look at the student(s) you’ve stood up and have them observe what they experience.
  5. Have the students that perceive something when they look at the standing student(s) describe what they are experiencing.

If you have time, bring the student(s) you’ve stood up in front of the group and have them point out other student(s) they see the Holy Spirit on. Multiple rounds will help people learn to recognize how they usually experience this spiritual gift.

Again as we learn and grow in this gift we can begin to distinguish more specifically what we’re seeing on the person. As we do that we can partner with God more specifically and effectively.
