Point of Contact

Oral Roberts was big on the idea of a point of contact. A point of contact is an action you take that expresses faith. James says that faith is brought to completion by our works (James 2:22) – so a point of contact is taking an action in faith with the intent of God using our action to bring healing about.

The point of contact doesn’t have to directly tie to the healing. Some times it can and makes sense (try bending over and seeing if you back feels any better), but other times it doesn’t. The woman who grabbed Jesus’ robe performed an action that had nothing to do with her infirmity. There are many times I just give any action because that gives an opportunity for them to release their faith.

To do this activation:

  • Have the students pair up and pray for people who need physical healing and who would know if they would experience healing.
  • Instruct the students to pray for 30-45 seconds and then give the person they’re praying for a point of contact.
  • Check in after the point of contact and see if the condition has improved at all.
  • Repeat a time or two and see what God is doing.
