Eyes Closed Words
This activation is a great one for pushing people who are already moving in words of knowledge to another level. Essentially we’re going to practice sharing words of knowledge with each other, but with our eyes closed – so we don’t even know who we’re practicing with! While it seems like a higher risk activation than the previous one, I regularly find that people get more accurate words of knowledge with this activity because they don’t have any natural cues to read off of. With their eyes closed there are no distractions from hearing God and the words tend to come out a little more purely.
Once again you’ll take medium-sized groups of students and split them into two groups that will play separate roles. One of the roles will be talking and the other listening. The talking group will line up and close their eyes. Then the listening group will shuffle around so that each person partners up with a person in the talking group. Once everyone is partnered up they will walk forwards and place their shoulder of the person they’ve partnered with.
One the person from the talking group feels the hand on their shoulder, they are going to immediately share the first thought or impression they have. Have them keep their eyes closed! Once they are done sharing their impression, they open their eyes and their partner in the listening group will give them some immediate feedback on the accuracy of what they shared. Once they whole group has shared some feedback the talking group close their eyes again, the listeners will shuffle and the process repeats. When the whole process has looped a number of times, switch roles so that each person gets the opportunity to practice both sides.
While this activity can feel a little scarier, it offers a great opportunity for people to push themselves a little bit and grow into another level of specificity and accuracy in hearing God.
